Study abroad in Heredia

Nicknamed Ciudad de las Flores because of its many beautiful gardens and the coffee plantations that surround it, Heredia is an idyllic location for your Spanish course in Costa Rica. The University of Heredia, Costa Rica's national university, and its many students gives this city a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Heredia's main attraction is its majestic colonial architecture, of which La Inmaculada Concepción, an eighteenth century church in the main square, is a fantastic example.

Located in the central mountains, the city is a 20 minute bus journey from the country's capital San José and Costa Rica's tropical rainforests, beaches and volcanoes are easily accessible in a day trip.

During her language course in Costa Rica the Swiss Olympic snowboarder Najda Purtschert travelled with Yalea Languages and Sudden Rush to Heredia to learn Spanish and to improve her surfing skills. Find out more about her trip and get inspiration for your own language learning adventure!
