Puerto de la Cruz is a traditional port town and one of the most touristic cities on the island, with a transient population that renews itself every season. Tenerife is part of the Canary Islands, which is made up of seven islands that were formed by volcanic eruptions. The biggest event on the island is the annual Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the capital, which is considered one of the largest carnivals around the world. It is held in February and March, characterized by colorful costumes, extravagant performances, and dances to be enjoyed by visitors and locals alike.
