Study French in La Rochelle, a picturesque harbor town popular with holiday makers.
Known as La Ville Blanche because of the effect created by the bright sun shining on its limestone buildings, La Rochelle is rich in history. It was one of the most important harbors between the fourteenth and seventeenth century, and it is from here that the French colonists who later founded Montreal set sail for Canada.
Located on the Atlantic Coast, in the summer La Rochelle is a fantastic destination for those who like to relax in the sunshine on the beach or in the park. The attractive old town has various cafes, bars and restaurants, as well as a large cultural centre. Throughout the year, the city hosts a number of large cultural events, including an international film festival and a Jazz festival.
