Collegium Palatinum International House Heidelberg
A part of the well renowned International House group, Collegium Palatinum provides high-quality German education in a truly unique learning environment. Since it opened in 1958, the school has built an excellent reputation.
Lessons focus on encouraging independent learning and confidence in speaking German. Students undertake activities including role plays or working in pairs to practice their skills, amongst other learning techniques. Class topics are fun and relate to everyday life situations. As a part of the International House chain, the school and its teachers undergo an annual evaluation to maintain high educational standards.
The school is located approximately a ten-minute tram ride or a pleasant 20-minute walk from the center of town. It is housed in a historic building dating back to 1911, on the edge of the forest which leads to Heiligenberg hill. “Villa Krehl”, as the building is named, was renovated in 2012 to house the school, but still retains its charm with wood paneled walls and green leafy gardens.
The school facilities are shared with the European Study Center, where students from all over the world travel each year to undertake exchange semesters as a part of their university studies. Some of these students also take lessons through the Collegium Palatinum. The school is also a registered telc and TestDaf exam center, where students can take the exam immediately after taking an exam preparation course.
Teachers all hold qualifications to teach German as a foreign language and have experience in teaching diverse and multicultural classes.
