ELC Los Angeles - Sharina
Los Angeles was great – an experience of a lifetime! Everything went so smoothly, from the flight and airport transport, the school and the accommodation to the exam and the return journey. Here is a short summary:
The school – ELC
The school was an hour's bus journey away from my host family, which was a bit of a downside. The staff at the school were generally helpful and nice, the teachers were well trained and everyone had their own character, resulting in a good mix of people. The only low points for me were the course hours and the fact that everyone in my class was from Switzerland. The school is in a great location, there are a large range of shops and restaurants nearby and it is well-connected to the whole city by bus.
My host family
With my host family, I felt like I’d won the lottery! Although, as I mentioned, they were a bit far away from the school, we had a lot of fun and they were very entertaining. I immediately felt at home and part of the family. I would like to go back to visit them.
I've already visited lots of ‘L’ cities: Lucerne, London, Lisbon and now LA! This city is as fascinating as it is large. We called it the city of eternal sunshine, because it only rained once, for five minutes during the night. There is so much to see and do in Los Angeles, from the Pier at Santa Monica Beach and Bubba Gump at Venice Beach, to all the stalls across UCLA and Beverley Hills, as well as the Griffith Park Observatory to the East.
I am very enthusiastic about my trip; everything worked perfectly – thanks Yalea! By the way, I have learnt that I passed the CAE!
